Now I was to fight a very mobile opponent or Konstantinos's Early Scythian/Saka army. I was fortunate to have met such an army a few days before at Geneva so I knew what to expect but would it help ?

I got a protected flank, was heavily out scouted but cannot say how much my memory is fading.
Obviously, I expected an outflanking move and deployed my samnites allies there as they have one ( and only one ) nice cavalry component

The picture is not of good quality but as you can see konstantinos was overconfident and completely forgot one rule : unprotected in loose gives me a bonus when shooting and he will pay dearly for it as facing my etruscan hoplites he did sent his unprotected mounted and I have shoot & charge with a skilled first rank . As aggressor he had moved quickly to be at 4 MU of me so I advanced 3 MU to be at one MU

Meanwhile some nobles of him do try to out flank me

The first charge and first dice shoot&charge oups and he will go for many skirmishing actions rolling a long list of ones on the die and so I will catch him

I also take some loses

But his center is damages and one turn he will lack cards to retreat and shoot & charge will kill his center

Meanwhile he had engaged his nobles in a winning fight till I went for his flank. He had no cards to disengage
His first mistake did the job.
15-2 in my favour but I must admit the first shooting and the lots of enemy skirmishers rolling one did help a lot
